so beautiful and so much truth in this - intrigued to learn more about the book
ReplyDeleteIt's historical fiction based on one sentence about a black servant in one of the 16th century Spanish expeditions to the New World. Episodic, dense, richly imagined. Laila Lalami is a wise person; this is the second book of hers I have read and admire her work highly.
